Oceanographic Data Transmission: A Compressed Sensing-based Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, a new application of the Compressed Sensing (CS) theory to the data transmission problem in oceanographic large-scale monitoring missions is proposed. The amount of the data (temperature, salinity and so on) collected during this mission can be huge and the transmission process could become prohibitively expensive in terms of both battery consumption and monetary cost of the satellite link. A new CS-based algorithm is thus developed in order to attain a cost-preserving and energyefficient data transmission. Moreover, the performance of the proposed CS algorithm is investigated with various parameter settings (different sensing and representation matrices, classical 1 and fast 0 minimization algorithms) using real oceanographic data.

A Block-Wise random sampling approach: Compressed sensing problem
The focus of this paper is to consider the compressed sensing problem. It is stated that the compressed sensing theory, under certain conditions, helps relax the Nyquist sampling theory and takes smaller samples. One of the important tasks in this theory is to carefully design measurement matrix (sampling operator). Most existing methods in the literature attempt to optimize a randomly initiali...
متن کاملSource and Channel Coding for Compressed Sensing and Control
Rapid advances in sensor technologies have fueled massive torrents of data streaming across networks. Such large volume of information, indeed, restricts the operational performance of data processing, causing inefficiency in sensing, computation, communication and control. Hence, classical data processing techniques need to be re-analyzed and re-designed prior to be applied to modern networked...
متن کاملAccelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging through Compressed Sensing Theory in the Direction space-k
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging method widely used in medical diagnosis. Data in MRI are obtained line-by-line within the K-space, where there are usually a great number of such lines. For this reason, magnetic resonance imaging is slow. MRI can be accelerated through several methods such as parallel imaging and compressed sensing, where a fraction of the K-space lines...
متن کاملSparse Control and Compressed Sensing in Networked Switched Systems
In this paper, we study the problems of sparse control and data transmission for network switched control systems. First, the networked control system is modeled as switched control systems. The new stability criterion and stabilization criterion are presented based on a sparse control design methodology and the Lyapunov stability theory. Then, according to the structure of the systems, data tr...

The potential of large tactile arrays to improve robot perception for safe operation in human-dominated environments and of high-resolution tactile arrays to enable humanlevel dexterous manipulation is well accepted. However, the increase in the number of tactile sensing elements introduces challenges including wiring complexity, power consumption, and data processing. To help address these cha...
